A Barn Owl in its splendor.

These Owls have near silent flight, great for stealth hunting. Unfortunately this specialisation means their extra soft feathers are not waterproof. The downside to this is they can only hunt in the dry weather!

Barn Owls are also sensitive to the environment and often struggle with hazards in the modern world. They love old meadow grasslands and feed predominantly on Voles, Shrews, Wood Mice and other rodents.

The protection of the diverse habitat they survive in is invaluable. In shepherding their world we are literally helping ourselves. By creating diverse, healthy and rich natural environments for nature, we live better and so do the creatures within it.

I take my hat off to ecologists Jeremy and Jodie at Little Comfort Farm in Braunton Devon, for their commitment to Owls and wildlife. They are fighting to preserve these wonders for the future and are setting a great example in conservation. An experience with these birds leaves one refreshed, inspired and at peace and for that I will forever be thankful.
